Stephen, thank you for your reply. I think the problem with your model is that there doesn’t exist a rational, external observer who can say with any certainty what is a “belief” and what is “rational knowledge.”
When we go head to head in a debate with someone, we like to think we’re the “rational knower”, and the other person the “mere believer”, but there’s no rational reason to believe that! For all we know, we’re the one with an erroneous belief. My intent with this article was merely to draw attention to this assumption.
